Calowise ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information through our mobile application, Simple Calorie (formerly known as Simple Calorie & Macro Tracker) (the "App").
1. No Account Creation
The App does not require you to register an account, sign in, or provide any personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use its features.
2. Local Data Storage
To provide personalized nutritional calculations (BMR and Macro targets), the App asks for your height, weight, age, gender, and activity level.
- Storage: All such data, including your daily food logs and body measurements, is stored locally on your mobile device.
- No Server Storage: We do not upload, backup, or store your personal health data on our servers. If you switch devices or factory reset your phone, your data will be permanently lost as we do not maintain any copies.
3. Functional Data Processing (AI & Search)
To provide core functionalities, the App interacts with our cloud services as follows:
- Barcode & Text Search: When you search for food items or scan barcodes, the App sends an anonymous query to our database. This request does not contain any personal information.
- AI Image Recognition: When you use the AI feature to identify food from a photo, the image is transmitted to our AI engine via a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). We do not store or save these photos. The images are processed in transient memory and are immediately deleted once the result is returned to you.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
In compliance with Google Play’s User Data Policy, we provide the following information regarding your data control:
- Retention: Data is retained only as long as the App is installed on your device. We do not retain any user data on external servers.
- User Control & Deletion: Since all data is stored locally, you have total control over it. You can delete your data at any time by:
- Clearing the App's data/cache in your device's System Settings.
- Uninstalling the App. Uninstalling the App will immediately and permanently erase all stored data from your device.
- Deletion Requests: Because we do not store your data on our servers, there is no remote data for us to delete upon request. Your data remains on your physical device at all times.
5. Permissions
The App requests Camera access solely for the purpose of scanning barcodes and using the AI food recognition feature. We do not access your photo gallery, contacts, or location.
6. Third-Party Services
We do not sell, trade, or share your information with third parties. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs that track your individual identity or behavior.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
